Jonathan Lay

I work full-time as a quantitative researcher, with a background in the physical sciences. Alongside that, I tutor a small number of students, with an emphasis on highly accelerated students studying high school and university level maths and science far above their year level.

My goal is to help talented quantitatively-inclined students develop the skills that can lead them into some of the most interesting and meaningful careers — opportunities that remain unknown to most students who have the potential to pursue them. Nothing excites me more than seeing people lean into learning serious skills and using their increased agency to benefit both themselves and the world. Nothing disappoints me more than seeing people fall short due to needless friction in the pursuit of this.

I shape sessions around the individual student rather than a fixed method, and I am happy to coordinate with parents and any therapists or other professionals supporting them.
